Now at the Shaggy Dog's Tail-end of this fest, the mods here at shaggydog_swap wanted to ask you all (participants & audience members alike) to take a tiny bit of time to answer some/all of the questions below and leave a comment (all comments are screened so only the mods will see).

1) How did you enjoy the fest?

2) Was there anything that could have been done better?

3) What did you enjoy most/least?

4) What would you like to see happen next time?

5) Do you think there should be a cap on participants?

6) What did you think of the word count?

7) Was there enough communication between mods and participants?

8) Was the posting schedule alright?

9) Were you happy to be assigned art or do you think you'd like to be offered more choice next time?

10) Was there enough time to get your art/fic done? Too much/too little time?

11) Anything else?

Please copy form text here:

Thank you all so much for your lovely support, and enthusiastic responses. You all made it the wonderful time that it was.

Thank you,

We’ve sadly come to the end of the first shaggydog_swap! Thank you to all participants for their wonderful art and fantastic fic! Thank you to everyone who read, everyone who commented, and those who recced. And a massive thank you to those who stepped up to pinch hit so no artist would go without fic. Remus/Sirius fandom is so supportive and encouraging, not to mention, talented.

(The rec collection post will remain open so please continue to rec fics and art for us to send to the daily_snitch.)

This was the first fest of its kind in the Remus/Sirius fandom and we’d like to make it a regular event. Help us learn from our mistakes by taking the time to let us know about any concerns you have, anything you think worked well, and suggestions for next time.

Thank you again from your mods - mypretty_art, epithalamium, eprime, dogsunderfoot, and remuslives23 - for making this fest a success!

Username: the_realduck
Art: Which Marauder Boy is gay? by chalada
Word Count: 2239
Contains: **Some language, terrible attempts at seduction.**
Summary: Sirius is a crowd pleaser. So why doesn’t he please Remus?
Notes/comments: So LATE. Life intruded, but I did finish! This didn’t go where I thought it would, but I let it roam free. A HUGE thank you to my beta, brighty18. You’re awesome :)

Art: Sun Up, Wind High by pandafoot105
Word Count: 10677 words
Rating: PG-13
Contains: *Alternate Universe, I guess I should warn for Pre-Slash*
Summary: Remus never expected that when he was sent on a mission to Denmark, he would have none other than Sirius Black as his babysitter.
Notes/comments: As this fic is taking place in Copenhagen, I have used the words "København" and "ulv" in the fic, they mean Copenhagen and wolf. Also thanks a lot to the patient shaggy mods and my wonderful beta.

Title: Alpha Dog

Username: liliths_requiem
Art: "Pet Sitting" by azhrarn_vazdru
Word Count: 2,399

Rating: PG-13, some sexual allusions

Contains: *N/A*
Notes/comments: I don’t usually write Remus/Sirius, even though I love them to pieces. When I received Pet Sitting as my art piece, I was really worried because it’s so fluffy and fluff isn’t my thing. Hopefully, this makes the artist, azhrarn_vazdru, proud. Thanks to my beta, K, for being amazing, as always. I hope everyone enjoys this. :)

Word Count: 6,080
Rating: PG-13
Contains: *bad language, misunderstandings, bathing and pig-headedness*
Summary: If only Sirius wasn't so tactile with absolutely everyone, Remus might have had some idea.
Notes/comments: Thank you to all the mods, who have been so patient and understanding while I've been struggling away with this. Thank you to epithalamium, who's art was beyond inspiring and amazing. Huge thanks to remuslives23, whose beta on this makes it readable! I hope anyone who reads this enjoys it! The title comes from Shake It Out by Florence + the Machine.

Title: Beauty of Winning
Username: heartofspells
Art: "Free" by livinglibraries
Word Count: ~3,400
Rating: PG-13 (just to be safe)
Contains: *Naked puppies playing in water, ridiculous beach antics*
Summary: It's raining, Sirius is bored, and Remus cannot handle a dog's whine. Beach day it is.
Notes/comments: Large, gigantic, massive thanks to xkeijukainenx/Heidi, the doll that she is, for the spectacular beta job. Would have been lost without her. Also, why this is in present tense, I've no idea. It's very seldom that I write anything that is not in past tense, but it just wanted to be written like this, so…I apologise in advance.

Title: Changelings
Username: pandafoot105
Art: Quick Bright Things by tortugax
Word Count: 64,081
Rating: [R]
Contains: *mild sexual situations, some gore, much swearing, bad Welsh*
Summary: Before they were Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs, before they formed Hogwarts’ own unofficial Werewolf pack, before they became the youngest Animagi ever unknown, and before they were soldiers in a clandestine and doomed Order, they were boys with secrets and a love for things that glowed in the dark.
Notes/comments: HUGE thank you to and Annie who was there all along (and explained the Great Mystery of the British Pasty) and the army that saved me last minute – Dominique, Jamie, gunsandpocky, grandilloquism, and nerak_rose. This baby really did take a village. I was so lucky with the art I was assigned, as it proved incredibly inspiring, and has been my desktop background for this entire fest. It feels a bit like an old friend by now.

A note on vernacular: Some of the characters (like Remus and Lily) grew up around at least a few Muggles and use the same exclamations and swear words, but people like the Blacks, who wouldn’t know a refrigerator if it fell on their face, are more likely to reference the stars, Merlin, the Founders, or witch burnings (i.e. “Burn it!” instead of “Damn it!”).

Title: Little Laughter, Bit of Soap
Username: heartofspells
Art: Bath by may_g
Word Count: ~7,200
Rating: NC-17
Contains: "Sexual situations, random stupidity, general silliness, and horrible rhymes*
Summary: Of course he can find Remus Lupin. The brave, handsome, charming Sirius Black can do whatever he sets his mind to. Doesn't matter that he's running round like a headless, panicked house elf, or that the entire castle seems to have gone mad. He can do it; he will.
Notes/comments: I wave the white flag; I give up. Two months I spent trying to think up an idea for this thing. And it's all just…ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. Then it did not want to be titled. Basically refused until I had to force a title on the stupid thing. Which, by the way, I send many a thanks out to mypretty_art for the help and inspiration which was: Soap is to the body as laughter is to the soul. – Yiddish Proverb And another giant handful of thanks to acidbathory for the beta job. Angel, she is. I hope someone actually enjoys this. I'm still a bit 'eh' about the entire thing. Also, the heart attack comment…I had to, I'm sorry. Couldn't resist.

Title: Break through the darkness.
Username: katie_padfoot
Art: "Harry, you are loved" by thedeathchamber
Word Count: 4,200
Rating: R.
Contains: *swearing, mentions of death, non-graphic sex.*
Summary: When James and Lily Potter die unexpectedly in a car accident their son Harry goes to live with Remus and Sirius.... In which Sirius copes badly, Remus picks up the slack and Harry loves snow.
Notes/comments: This is a non-magical AU, though that is mostly irrelevant and is pretty much nothing like I first imagined it to be after looking at the artwork, but somehow this is what the characters wanted to do and I was clearly powerless to stop them. I've not written much in this fandom before and I'm a little nervous about the whole thing, especially with so many amazing writers taking part in this.... so I mainly just hope this isn't too angsty or fluffy or cliché.

Contains: *letters, The Prank, self harm (werewolf), snuggling*
Summary: Some things you never throw away, even after everything you think they meant is gone.
Notes/comments: This is not the fic I meant to write when I started. Honestly, I have no idea when it turned into this.
Thank you duskblue for some amazing art, and thank you Shaggymods for your infinite patience with me!

Contains: *some AU-ness*
Summary: Remus has a plan.
Notes/comments: Okay, so, wow. Big thanks to Jo, beta of my life, apple of my eye. Without you, I would be sleeping right now instead of finishing this (can’t say if this is good or bad :P). Thank you to mypretty_art, for making me want to do this in spite of everything and for helping me feel inspired when I wasn’t feeling inspired. And to the rest of you, well, hope you like it! Summary: There's always something better to do than revising. Especially with Prongs and Wormtail out of the room.
Notes/comments: I'm so glad I got the opportunity to write this! Thanks to Em (again!) for the beta (and helping me with my weakness: action sequences!), and many thanks cackling_madly for the wonderfully descriptive artwork that spoke to me so clearly.

Contains: *Remus showing Sirius how well he does passive aggressive*
Summary: When the Christmas Ball comes around and Remus refuses to go with Sirius as his date, Sirius takes matters into his own hands. And of course messes everything up in the process. Fluffy ending like woah.
Notes/comments: Thanks again to my marvellous beta bluebellmeadows who doesn’t like paragraph long sentences. Also to dustmouth I hope I’ve done your beautiful art justice with my Pinch Hit.

Title: Washed on the Shore of a Second Chance
Username: mindabbles
Art: "Flirt" by mypretty_art
Word Count: 4,800
Rating: light R
Contains: *AU in which Sirius never makes it to Azkaban. Instead, he ends up in a different reality – where Remus never went to Hogwarts, so there wasn't someone on whom Peter could throw suspicion.*
Summary: Sometimes Remus catches him standing in the shop, staring. He looks like he's somewhere far off and he walks around the shop touching things – shelves, books, pictures on the wall. He studies them with his uncomfortably intense gaze as if he's remembering something far away. Sometimes he looks at Remus like that.
Notes/comments: First, thank you to mypretty_art/myprettycabinet for her delicious art. The tension in that drawing was all the prompt I needed. Thanks also to her for being so encouraging and for offering feedback on several versions of this. Thanks to the mods for this great idea and for running a wonderful fest. Smooches times a million to gryffindorj who went way above and beyond in helping me with this and to midnitemaraud_r for stepping in at the last minute, as any Marauder worth their salt would.

Art: "The Same Boat" by epithalamium
Word Count: ~2,400
Rating: PG-13
Contains: *angst, a growing sense of doom, nudity*
Summary: Now they hadn't had sex in months, and Sirius knew he pulled away from Remus in his sleep, when they managed to sleep in bed together.
Notes/comments: It's been a while since writing a fic affected me as much as this did. Thankfully, it was all to the good. Thanks so much to Em for the alpha and beta, and thanks to epithalamium for the gorgeous artwork which helped to push me a bit out of my comfort zone.

Title: The Game's Afoot
Username: eprime
Art: I wonder... by shira_a
Word Count: 2293
Rating: PG-13
Contains: *AU situations as of October 31st, 1981. Light sexual references. Umm...a bit of mental instability and dubious decision making. Quotes from Shakespeare's Henry V, Act III*
Summary:"In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger;" Remus and Sirius pick up the pieces.
Notes/comments: The art shira_a created is so warm and beautiful. I love the tender scene she drew. When I first saw it the colors immediately evoked Gryffindor, of course. I thought, hm, maybe it is the Gryffindor common room, but the details reminded me more of the parlor at Grimmauld Place. I doubted Walburga had had a sudden urge to redecorate in Gryffindor colors, so in trying to figure out why the Black parlor would be decked out this way, this story came about. Thank you for the lovely image and inspiration, shira_a. (Forgive me if this subverts the warmth and tenderness in your beautiful art somewhat. ;))

Title: Where the Earth Meets the Sky
Username: pavlablack
Art: Out for a Walk by horcruxhymen
Word Count: 3165
Rating: PG-13
Contains: *N/A*
Summary: When Sirius is sent to Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit, Remus finds a way to love Tonks . . . though Sirius will always own his heart. Can these star-crossed Marauders find their way back to each other after years apart and with two little girls to raise? AU in that Tonks is just three years younger than the Marauders and several outcomes from canon are changed as a result.
Notes/comments: Anything you recognize belongs to JKR, not me. Many thanks to escribo for helping me settle on an idea, and to horcruxhymen for the great art.

Title: Buried Treasure
Username: wwmrsweasleydo
Art: The Treasure of Your Past by kath_ballantyne
Word Count: 4,500
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Swearing. Angst. References to male/male sexual activities between schoolboys and between middle-aged men. Brief, approving, mention of Tonks (sorry remuslives23).
Summary: Remus dreams of the past, though the present is bleak. Sirius is entering his life again and he doesn't know how to handle that.
Notes/comments: I don't think this strictly adheres to canon, it's a bit approximate. Thanks to emansil_08 for the beta work and for being there, to the mods for running this interesting fest and, above all, to kath_ballantyne for a fascinating picture to work from. I'm afraid the tone of the story is not as cheerful and bright as those in the picture.
